This summer, kick-start your quest to eat more local foods by joining Eat Local, America! Hosted by natural food co-ops nationwide, the challenge celebrates our communities’ growing passion for foods grown or produced locally and the farmers, who make it all possible.

If you’re a seasoned locavore – someone who makes it a point to eat local foods – you’re encouraged to eat four out of five meals with local food (or roughly 80 percent of your diet). If you’re starting out, begin by eating five meals a week made with local foods. And, if you’re somewhere in between, create your own goal. After all, it’s all about eating, exploring and enjoying local food – and having fun as you do so.
